NBF wins “Outstanding Employer – Middle East” at the annual Korn Ferry Employee Engagement Awards 2017
Award showcases NBF’s commitment to employing and developing the best talent
National Bank of Fujairah PJSC (NBF) announced today that it has been awarded the accolade of “Outstanding Employer” in the Middle East at the Korn Ferry Employee Engagement Awards. The award reflects the increased levels of engagement achieved over the last 7 years which have led to improvements in the bank’s customer service and financial performance.
Research by Korn Ferry, the global people and organisational advisory firm, has revealed that employee engagement is an important pillar within any company given its direct impact on productivity and performance. As such, the award seeks to recognise those organisations who have built best-in-class levels of engagement within the regions they operate.
Over the years, the NBF management team has made significant strides with the support of the HR team to enhance the engagement levels within the bank. Each year, following the annual employee satisfaction survey, communication sessions are held with all staff across the bank. These meetings result in action plans being developed which are regularly monitored by HR & the senior management of the Bank. NBF is the only local bank, in the UAE, to introduce an Employee Wellbeing Program (EWP). The NBF EWP and the Health Portal are available to all employees and their family members. The bank actively encourages open and direct 2-way communication between all levels of management and employees. A development programme is run for all line managers to support them in improving levels of engagement within their work team. The personal and career development of all staff is supported by a range of internal and external training focusing on both behavioural and technical competences.
As such, NBF has been recognised by a number of prestigious platforms for adhering to best practices in employee engagement. Earlier this year, the bank’s HR team was celebrated as the region’s “HR Team of the Year” at the Gulf Employee Experience Awards 2017. In 2016, NBF won “Best Employee Brand” at the LinkedIn Talent Awards. The bank was also singled out for its efforts in terms of “Innovation in Employee Engagement” in addition to receiving the “Mark of Excellence for Nationalisation Initiative of the Year” at the HR Excellence Awards 2016.
Commenting on the recent win, NBF’s CEO Vince Cook stated: “It is very heartening to see the bank's efforts acknowledged by such a well-regarded global professional business. It is particularly significant to be singled out as the only bank in the Middle East recognised as an outstanding employer for 2017, reflecting the exceptionally high levels of engagement among our employees. Clearly our HR team’s role is crucial in recruiting and developing the best talent in the market and creating such a positive environment, but this award would not have happened without the managers and department heads throughout the bank also playing their part. At NBF, we have long recognised the strong relationship between investing in our people and our business success and it remains an integral part of our mission to continue to develop a progressive environment for all our people.”
Vijay Gandhi, Regional Director – EMEA at Korn Ferry said: “The last seven years have seen NBF truly emerge as a people’s organisation and credit goes to the leadership and HR team for believing in their people and transforming the business together. It’s refreshing to see the innovative ways in which NBF has driven employee engagement across the business and this award is a reflection of the commitment that NBF has made to its people. We wish them well and look forward to future successes.”
Abdulla Aleter, NBF’s Head of HR said: “I am delighted that NBF has received this award which demonstrates significant progress in terms of our journey towards HR Excellence. At NBF, we believe in constantly investing in our human capital by focusing on training and development, staff recognition & engagement and employee wellbeing.
Testament to our success so far, the bank’s turnover of employees remains well below the market average. This award is further evidence of our commitment to our talented employees and demonstrates NBF’s focus on human resources excellence.”
Ashish Ahluwalia, Senior Client Director at Korn Ferry said added: “I have been privileged to witness and partner NBF on their journey. Over the years, we have seen the leadership unleash the full potential of their people. This award is a recognition of their passion and commitment to the success of their people. On behalf of everyone at Korn Ferry, congratulations to all NBF employees.”
