The National Bank of Fujairah (NBF), now brings its customers Apple Pay and Google Pay, providing them a safer and more secure way to pay that helps them avoid handing their payment card to vendors, touching physical buttons or exchanging cash.
Offering high levels of protection, customers using Apple Pay can simply hold their iPhone or Apple Watch near a payment terminal to make a contactless payment and every purchase is secure because it is authenticated with Face ID, Touch ID, or device passcode, as well as a one-time unique dynamic security code. Similarly for Google Pay, customers can use their Android device and pay using their fingerprint or a PIN.
Apple Pay and Google Pay are accepted anywhere you see the contactless symbol in grocery stores, pharmacies, taxis, restaurants, coffee shops, retail stores, and many more, making transactions more convenient and secure.
Digitalisation remains a key focus for NBF and it continues to look at new partnerships to extend its digital banking solutions and optimise the banking experience for customers, with these new payment options.
NBF is also committed to improving cybersecurity across its operations and protecting customers from fraud and other online threats. Earlier this year, the bank launched a solution to online card fraud that can be used across all credit and debit cards issued by the bank.
Security and privacy are at the core of Apple Pay and Google Pay. When customers use a credit or debit card with these payment methods, the actual card numbers are not stored on the devices, nor on servers. For Apple Pay, a unique Device Account Number is assigned, encrypted, and securely stored in the Secure Element, an industry-standard, certified chip designed to store the payment information safely on the device. Meanwhile, with Google Pay, when you use your card stored in Google Wallet to pay, transactions are made using a virtual card number (a token). This token is device-specific and associated with a dynamic security code that changes with each transaction, providing an extra layer of protection from fraud.
Apple Pay is easy to set up on iPhone, simply open the Wallet app, tap +, and follow the steps to add the NBF credit or debit cards. Once a customer adds a card to iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad, or Mac, they can start using Apple Pay on that device right away. A similar process is used to set up Google Pay. Customers open the Google Pay app on their device, tap the “+” sign and follow the steps to add the NBF card. Customers who set up Apple Pay or Google Pay will continue to receive all of the rewards and benefits offered by NBF’s cards.
