NBF has issued you your new Chip & PIN credit card in line with the recent Central Bank Mandate to secure all the credit card transactions. This move is also in keeping with current global best practice.

Your Chip & PIN credit card is embedded with a microchip, which stores all relevant cardholder information and the Personal Identification Number (PIN) in an encrypted format. This PIN is known only by you, the cardholder, meaning your funds are protected against fraud/misuse.

Chip & PIN technology provides an additional layer of safety against counterfeit and card skimming-related fraud.

Your Chip & PIN credit card enhances the security of all your domestic and international transactions, in line with best global practices. It provides an additional level of safety against counterfeit and skimming-related fraud.
Your Chip & PIN card stores your cardholder information and PIN in an encrypted format. You need to enter your secret PIN at a point-of-sale terminal to authenticate and complete any transactions, unlike your previous Chip card which required a signature for authentication.
No. You won’t be charged when you are upgraded to your new Chip & PIN credit card.
When you use your Chip & PIN credit card at a PIN-enabled point-of-sale terminal, you’ll be prompted to enter your 4-digit secret PIN. After entering the correct PIN, your transaction will be approved.

At point-of-sale terminals that do not support PIN authentication, your card will be inserted in the Chip slot and you will need to authorise the transaction by signing the card receipt.
Visa payWave is a “contactless” payments solution from Visa. It is a faster way to pay with your credit card for purchases under AED 400 at participating stores. Instead of swiping or inserting your card at the checkout, simply wave or tap your card on the contactless terminal. Contactless cards are perfect for small purchases.

You can use your card to make Visa payWave (contactless) transactions on amounts as shown below. Once you reach the maximum transaction limit, you will be asked to conduct another transaction, entering your PIN, after which your contactless limit will be refreshed once again.

Yes. Regardless of whether you are in your home country or abroad, if the point-of-sale terminal is enabled for PIN authentication, you will be asked to enter your PIN to complete your transaction.
You will be given 3 attempts to enter your correct PIN. After 3 unsuccessful attempts, your PIN will be blocked and your transaction will be declined. You will need request a new PIN from NBF by calling our helpline at 8008NBF(623).
When your Chip & PIN credit card is issued, your PIN will be dispatched to you separately. You will use this PIN at point-of-sale terminals to complete your transactions and at ATMs.

As with any retail purchase, receipts are available upon request. All contactless purchases are recorded on your NBF bank statement and FastNet Classic along with all your other card purchases.
No. Contactless terminals have a limited range. Your card needs to be within a couple of centimetres to be read.
Your contactless credit card needs to be held within a couple of centimetres of the contactless terminal to work.
It doesn’t matter how many times a card is read by the contactless terminal, the charge will only occur once.
Yes. If the shop doesn’t have a contactless terminal installed, you can continue to insert your contactless credit or debit card just as you always have. You can also choose to use this option even if there is a contactless terminal available.
No, but excessive bending could result in damage to the antenna and should be avoided. If your contactless enabled credit card stops working with a wave or tap, please contact us to get a replacement card.
Contactless is a permanent feature of your card and can’t be disabled. You can still insert your credit card just as you always have if you don’t want to make a purchase using contactless.
No, there is no daily limit. You can make as many contactless transactions for the maximum allowed amount set for your card, after which you will have to conduct a transaction by inserting the pin. Once the transaction is completed you will be able to make additional contactless transactions.
There may be a small chance that the contactless functionality does not work straight away on your new card. Your card needs to be activated before the contactless functionality will work. If you use your card first on a transaction by inserting your card into a terminal then putting a PIN, then contactless should work after this transaction.

CVVkey™ sends a unique 3-digit security code to your smartphone. Whenever the three-digit security code on the back of your card is requested during check out for online purchases, just enter the fresh code from the app on your phone. The app generates a new code every six hours, so if your card is ever stolen, unauthorized purchases will be denied. Your card works the same as always for purchases in stores.

CVVkey also allows you to control and manage what types of transactions are allowed and what are restricted. You can, for example, restrict all online transactions, or international transactions, or not allow cash withdrawals on credit cards.

If your card has been lost, damaged, or blocked due to fraud, follow these steps to delete it from the app:

  1. Log in to your CVVkey app.
  2. Locate the card you want to delete.
  3. Swipe left on the card in the app.
  4. Tap the trash icon.
  5. Confirm the deletion by selecting ‘Unenroll’.

CVVkey gives you the ability to set daily or monthly spending limits. You can unenroll your card anytime; once unenrolled, the static CVV code will apply to all transactions.

If you unenroll the card from the CVVkey app, all the settings will be reset to their default values.
